Halo is a sorority of the study association for Applied Physics: SVTN "J.D. van der Waals", since 2019.
We have Halo sorority nights every two weeks and next to that we organize internal activities activities, but also external activities for all members of Van der Waals.
Get to know Halo
We are a group of girls studying Applied Physics at the University of Technology in Eindhoven, brought together by our passion for physics. Within our sorority, we want to create an atmosphere in which members feel supported and inspired to find a balance between studying and an active student life. Moreover, we want to create an open minded sorority where internationals and different (strong) opinions are welcome. In this way, we want to bring out the best in each other and make the best of our student life!
Origin of our name and logo
Halo is the family name for an optical phenomenon. Due to the interaction between light and ice crystals (hexagons) in the atmosphere, a circular Halo around the sun can be created. This phenomenon fits us due to the combination of physics and the symbol circle that among other things stands for the power of women. Therefore, our logo represents the circular Halo, with the sun in the center and hexagons circular around it. As is clear from the logo, turquoise (#C6E4E6) and sea green (#007780) are our sorority colors.
